Golf in Cornwall
Cornwall has two Top 100 UK golf courses and some of the most dramatic coastal settings in England.
Here's how to gift a Cornwall golf lesson or experience.
About Golf in Cornwall
Cornwall is not the first place most golfers think of when planning a UK golf trip — which is exactly what makes it such a good one. Two Top 100 courses sit on the North Cornish coast: St Enodoc, where John Betjeman played and is buried, and Trevose, a proper tournament venue overlooking the Atlantic. Combine them with the county's exceptional scenery and you have the ingredients for a memorable golf break.
Cornwall's Top 100 UK Golf Courses
St Enodoc (Church Course) — Rank #55
St Enodoc sits in the sand dunes above Rock and Padstow on the Camel Estuary. The course is ancient, idiosyncratic, and extraordinary — the 6th hole plays over an enormous sand dune (the Himalaya), and the 10th requires a blind tee shot over another. John Betjeman, the Poet Laureate, was a member here and asked to be buried in the churchyard that sits in the middle of the course.
St Enodoc rewards creativity over power. The turf is fast, the bunkering eccentric, and the views — dunes, estuary, sea — are among the finest in English golf. Worth the journey to the Camel Estuary.
Trevose — Rank #76
On the headland above Constantine Bay, north of Padstow. Trevose is a proper golf club — championship course, second course, short course, driving range, accommodation on-site — that manages to feel both exclusive and welcoming. The Championship Course runs out and back along the headland with Atlantic views throughout.
It hosts regular professional and amateur events and is considered one of the best-run clubs in the South West. The on-site accommodation makes it a natural golf break destination.
Golf Lessons in Cornwall
Cornwall's coaching offering is strongest at and around its major clubs:
At Trevose
The club has PGA professionals on-site year-round offering private lessons, beginner packages, and short game clinics. Group sessions for visitors are available during the summer season.
Elsewhere in Cornwall
The county has dozens of courses from Bude in the north to Falmouth and Truro in the south. Most offer professional coaching. For complete beginners visiting on holiday, a lesson package at a local driving range or 9-hole course is often the most relaxed way to start.
Planning a Cornwall Golf Break
Cornwall works best as a 3–4 day break combining golf with the rest of what the county offers.

When to Go
Spring (April–May): Courses in excellent condition, fewer tourists, accommodation more affordable. The best time for serious golfers.
Summer (June–August): Perfect weather but busy. Book tee times and accommodation well in advance. School holiday weeks should be avoided.
Autumn (September–October): Second-best season for golf — courses still firm, crowds have gone.
