Golf Gifts for Women: Ideas That Go Beyond the Pink Version

The golf gift market for women has improved significantly, but too many options still default to making standard equipment smaller or pink rather than thinking about what women golfers actually want. This guide skips the gimmicks and focuses on gifts that any woman who loves golf will genuinely appreciate.

Gifts for the Woman Who Has Played for Years

A fitting session. Custom club fitting is one of the most valuable gifts in golf and still underused by women golfers who started with off-the-rack clubs. Many women play with equipment not optimised for their swing speed, tempo, or physique. A fitting session at a TaylorMade Experience Centre, American Golf, or an independent professional fitter costs £50 to £100 and could take 10 strokes off a round. Pair it with a commitment to replace whichever clubs come out of the fitting as the biggest improvement.

Skechers GO GOLF shoes. Skechers has become the quiet success story of women's golf footwear. More comfortable than traditional leather golf shoes, waterproof, lightweight, and available in colours beyond the usual limited palette. Prices from around £70.

Titleist Pro V1 or AVX balls. If she plays regularly and is below a 15 handicap, she already knows which ball she wants. A dozen Pro V1s or the softer AVX is never a wrong answer. Roughly £45 to £50 per dozen.

Sun Mountain Diva cart bag. Sun Mountain makes some of the best-organised golf bags available, and the Diva range is specifically designed around women's equipment with appropriate club length accommodation and a well-thought-out pocket layout. From around £200.

Gifts for the Woman Who Is Learning

Three lessons with a PGA professional. The single most valuable gift for a new or improving golfer. Specify that the lessons should be with a coach who has experience teaching women beginners — the coaching approach matters. Three hour-long lessons with a good coach cost between £120 and £200 and deliver more improvement than any piece of equipment.

A starter set with proper fit. If she is just starting, a women's starter set from Callaway, Wilson, or Cleveland is designed for the lighter swing speeds typical of newer players. Avoid the cheapest possible sets, which are often heavy and difficult to progress with. Budget around £150 to £250 for a decent 8 or 9-piece starter set.

Golf Pride CP2 Pro grips (re-gripping her current clubs). If she already has clubs and plays regularly, worn grips are often invisible to the player but significantly affect the game. A full re-grip costs around £60 to £80 at most club pro shops and makes a noticeable difference.

A laser rangefinder. Understanding distances is one of the most useful skills in golf and the one most beginners skip. A basic laser rangefinder (Bushnell Tour V5 Shift or Precision Pro NX9) removes the guesswork from club selection. Prices from £100 to £180.

Experience Gifts

A round at a bucket-list course. If she has courses on her list, a guest invitation or gift of green fees at a course she has always wanted to play is more meaningful than any piece of equipment. If you are not sure which courses, Swyng's course guides can help you choose.

Golf weekend at Dromoland Castle or The Belfry. A golf resort weekend combining a great course with excellent accommodation and dinner. Dromoland in County Clare (Ireland) and The Belfry in Warwickshire are consistently rated among the top resort golf experiences for couples and groups.

Golf lesson with a female PGA coach. Some women golfers find it easier to learn from a female coach, and there are now more excellent women PGA professionals teaching across the UK than at any point before. Check the PGA's Find a Coach directory to locate women coaches near you.

Under £50

  • FootJoy StaSof glove: The best-feeling women's golf glove available. Around £15.
  • Bushnell Wingman speaker: A Bluetooth speaker that clips to a golf bag and also provides voice GPS distances. Around £45.
  • Callaway Golf Towel: Practical and well-made. Around £20.
  • Personalised golf ball set: Several UK retailers (including Under Par Golf) personalise balls with names or initials, which makes a thoughtful gift even from a small budget. Around £20 to £30 for three to six balls.

What to Avoid

The "Ladies" version of a product that is simply smaller or lighter pink is worth avoiding unless she has specifically requested it. Women's golf products designed by people who understand women's golf (not just women's aesthetics) are significantly better. Footjoy, Titleist, and Ping all produce women's equipment that is designed around biomechanical differences rather than colour palette alone.
