About St George's Hill
St George's Hill is one of Harry Colt's finest achievements, a private heathland course of exceptional quality set among pines and birch in the Surrey hills.
Founded in 1913, St George's Hill was designed by Harry Colt on a wooded hillside estate near Weybridge, and it remains one of the most accomplished works of his distinguished career. The club operates 27 holes arranged in three loops of nine, designated Red, Blue, and Green, which combine to form the championship 18-hole layout. The setting, within a private residential estate of mature pines and silver birch, gives the course a hushed, secluded quality that makes it one of the most pleasant environments in which to play golf in England. Access is strictly by member introduction or through a recognised reciprocal club arrangement.

St George's Hill
Harry Colt spent the early decades of the 20th century producing golf courses that worked with the English landscape rather than imposing upon it, and St George's Hill is among the finest expressions of that philosophy. The site, a sloping wooded hillside on the western edge of Surrey's heathland belt, gave Colt the ingredients he used best: sandy soil, natural contours, and a tree canopy that created both visual framing and strategic challenge without ever becoming oppressive. The result is a course that feels entirely natural while being, on examination, exquisitely designed.
The quality of golf at St George's Hill is evident in the variety and consistency of its holes. Colt used the hillside topography to create changes in elevation that generate memorable tee shots and well-protected green sites, while the sandy heathland turf produces conditions that reward the running game and make the course play differently in every season. The 27-hole arrangement, across Red, Blue, and Green nines, means that the championship layout can be configured in multiple ways, and each combination has its own logic and rhythm.
Surrey's golden belt of heathland golf, which runs through Weybridge, Sunningdale, Camberley, and across the county border into Berkshire, represents one of the most concentrated collections of outstanding golf courses in the world. St George's Hill sits firmly within that tradition, its private and unhurried atmosphere preserving a standard of presentation and experience that is increasingly rare. Those with the connections to gain access will find it one of the most rewarding rounds available within an hour of London, sitting naturally alongside Sunningdale and Walton Heath in any serious survey of Surrey's best.

Matt Davidson2 years agoStunning course set in beautiful surroundings. Course condition was good, excellent greens and tee boxes, fairways had a few bare patches. Clubhouse is a great place to be and the service is excellent. Played the red and blue 9's. Great mix of holes and a nice change in elevation to keep you on your toes....!
Mr Duckwooda year agoAmazing place to play, course was in very good condition despite recent weather (frost wind and rain). We played in 25th winds gusting up to 45 so was a challenging round but very enjoyable. Would love to come back and play again in the future!
