North Wales is a part of the world where golf and landscape are inseparable, and Conwy Golf Club makes that relationship more explicit than almost anywhere else in the country. The estuary setting, with the medieval castle directly in the sightlines from multiple holes, means that history and geography are present in every round in a way that no amount of course design can manufacture. The club was founded in 1869, making it one of the oldest in Wales, and the passage of time has done nothing to diminish either its ambition or its appeal.

The championship course at Conwy has been developed and refined over the years, arriving at a layout that tests every department of the game without resorting to gimmickry. The wind off the estuary is the most persistent challenge, capable of turning comfortable holes into demanding ones with a shift in direction, and the firm links turf rewards those who keep the ball below the level and use the ground intelligently. Several holes run along the estuary's edge, where the proximity of the water adds a psychological weight to approach shots that are already demanding.

Conwy's competitive history places it in the first rank of Welsh golf venues, and it forms a natural part of any serious north Wales links itinerary alongside Aberdovey and Royal St David's. The town of Conwy itself, with its intact medieval walls and quayside character, makes the area a compelling destination beyond the golf course alone, and the surrounding Snowdonia landscape provides context and atmosphere that lingers long after the round is over.

Great course in superb condition! We were lucky with the weather. The welcome from the pro shop was superb! Very friendly and helpful. The bar staff were also very friendly and the food was very nice. Overall a fantastic experience and I would 100% recommend a visit here.

Loved it. A flat links with great views of the surrounding hills and bays. The course is well laid out and reasonably forgiving until you get to the final 3 holes, at which point the gorse closes in and ruins your hard earned score! The fairways were hard and fast but the greens were slightly woolly (probably just as well for my card) - a lovely welcome from the informative starter.

I suspect it's due to such a dry spring and early summer but a few of the fairways had bare dry patches, not burnt out grass just completed bare hard pan dirt. The practice and putting green surroundings by the clubhouse need some TLC, or maybe just some water. Greens were great. The food was also good in the clubhouse. Overall we were a little disappointed given the green fee but it's hard to know if it's just weather related. I hope they can get on top of it before the R&A Girls Amateur Championship in August.
