About Seacroft
Seacroft is England's great undiscovered links, a natural and demanding dune course on the Lincolnshire coast near Skegness that rewards the golfer prepared to make the journey east.
Founded in 1895 on the Lincolnshire coast near Skegness, Seacroft is one of England's most easterly links courses and one of its most underrated. The course runs across open duneland with the North Sea as a constant presence, producing firm, fast turf and exposure to winds that can transform the character of the round from hole to hole. Very little shelter is available from the elements, and the open common land setting gives Seacroft a wildness and authenticity that makes it genuinely comparable to celebrated links courses far better known than itself.

Seacroft
The Lincolnshire coast has a character distinct from the better-known links regions of Lancashire and Norfolk. The landscape here is flat, wide and featureless in the way of a big sky country, and Seacroft sits within it as one of the few places on this long stretch of coastline where the land rises into natural dune formations capable of hosting great golf. The course makes full use of what is available: firm turf, natural rough, the constant presence of the North Sea wind, and a routing that demands patience and course management over aggression.
What makes Seacroft particularly appealing is the combination of genuine quality and genuine accessibility. This is not a course that requires an introduction or a waiting list. The open common land ethos and the club's attitude to visiting golfers mean that Seacroft is simply available, on most days, to anyone prepared to travel to Skegness and book a tee time. At a course of this standard, that accessibility is remarkable, and it places Seacroft in an unusual position among top-ranked English courses, most of which are either strictly private or heavily oversubscribed with visitor demand.
For golfers with an appetite to explore English links golf beyond the canonical names, Seacroft is precisely the kind of discovery that makes such exploration worthwhile. A county that rarely features in golf travel discussions turns out to contain a course of genuine national standing, played in a setting of elemental coastal wildness and welcomed with the easy warmth of a club that knows exactly what it has. Paul Kirkup7 months agoThis is an excellent links course. I've given it four stars rather than five only because some of the tee boxes, fairways and bunkers were patchy compared to the best links courses in the world but that is a high bar! The layout is great, more or less 9 out and 9 back, with each hole a different challenge. The greens were in very good condition with some tricky undulations - particularly the 16th! Watch out for that one. A warm, efficient welcome, great food in the clubhouse and a friendly halfway house. Recommended.
Richa year agoGreat to finally play this great links course. For the last week of October the course was in great shape and we were blessed with the weather! No wind and short sleeve. For £40 a round it is well worth it. The condition of the course was great and of course there is some winter work being done but it surely didn’t interfere with a great experience. Great holes and don’t expect to get many flat lies.
david cronshaw3 months agoLovely golf course, course in great shape for time of the year, shame about the hail stones the night before, but they had cleared up by the back 9
