About Pyle & Kenfig
Pyle & Kenfig is one of Wales's great links courses, a natural and dramatic layout set among the towering dunes of the Kenfig Burrows National Nature Reserve near Bridgend.
Founded in 1922 and routed through one of the most imposing dune systems in Wales, Pyle & Kenfig offers links golf of the most authentic kind. The Kenfig Burrows, a designated National Nature Reserve, provide a spectacular and ecologically significant setting in which the course feels genuinely carved from the land rather than imposed upon it. Firm, fast greens and exposed fairways make the course a demanding test in any wind, and it has long been a venue of choice for Welsh national championship golf.

Pyle & Kenfig
The south Wales coast between Cardiff and the Gower Peninsula holds some of the finest links golf in Britain, and Pyle & Kenfig sits at the heart of that stretch. The Kenfig Burrows dune system has been shaped by centuries of coastal wind and sand movement, producing a landscape of extraordinary natural drama. Fairways sit in valleys between dune ridges, approach shots must account for unpredictable bounces on firm ground, and the greens reward the kind of patient, ground-hugging game that links golf demands.
The course benefits from its proximity to Royal Porthcawl, which sits just a short drive away along the coast. The two clubs together form one of the most compelling two-day itineraries in Welsh golf, and the contrast between Porthcawl's exposed clifftop character and Kenfig's enclosed dune corridors makes each course a distinct and memorable experience. The area around Bridgend has a concentration of links quality that repays the journey from anywhere in the British Isles.
Pyle & Kenfig's status as a National Nature Reserve setting adds a dimension beyond golf. Rare orchids and sand lizards inhabit the dunes, and the reserve's ecological significance is visible throughout the round in the untamed vegetation that lines every hole. For golfers who value a sense of place in their course experiences, Kenfig delivers something that manicured parkland courses simply cannot replicate. The course is at its best in summer, when the reserve's flora is in full display and the firm ground produces the kind of running ball that links golf was invented for.

What Golfers Say About Pyle & Kenfig
A selection of recent visitor reviews from Google.
Tom Marshall4 months agoFantastic golf course with amazing views. I played in the Autumn open day where we were exposed to all 4 seasons including gale force winds.
Felix Ruetz6 months agoPositive: The back 9 are the most challenging holes I ever played. But also the most fun. Brutal but clever layout. Beautiful course with nice views. Negative: a lot(!) of trash lying around, easy to get lost since there are no signs (back 9 only), people walking their dogs appear out of nowhere (dangerous because the wind can make balls fly very unpredictably), dog poop on and next to thr fairway, hole 9 is an accident waiting to happen if you have anything worse than a single digit hcp
richard hamilton5 months agoWow, back nine is incredible. Friendly people. Wish it was my local golf club. Front 9 is great as well. It's just the back nine stands out as you wind your way through the dunes. Fantastic links golf.
