About Prince's

Prince's Golf Club in Sandwich Bay is one of Kent's great links venues, offering 27 holes of genuine championship quality in one of England's most storied golfing landscapes.

Founded in 1906 and situated adjacent to Royal St George's and Royal Cinque Ports, Prince's occupies a prime position within Sandwich Bay's remarkable concentration of links golf. The course hosted The Open Championship in 1932, when Gene Sarazen won the Claret Jug in dominant fashion, and the 27-hole layout across three loops of nine (Shore, Himalayas and Dunes) gives it a scale and variety that few links complexes in the UK can match. More accessible to visitors than its illustrious neighbours, Prince's offers resort facilities and a hotel on site, making it an ideal base for a Kent links break.

England's Kent coast has long been regarded as sacred links territory, and Sandwich Bay represents its finest expression. Prince's, Royal St George's and Royal Cinque Ports form a triumvirate of great courses within a remarkably small area, offering visiting golfers an almost unrivalled variety of links experiences. Where its neighbours are private and access can be difficult to arrange, Prince's occupies a more welcoming position in the landscape, making it the natural starting point for a Sandwich Bay golf trip.

The 27-hole layout gives Prince's a flexibility that single-loop courses cannot match. Different nine-hole combinations play with distinct characters: the Shore nine hugs the coast with open, wind-exposed holes; the Dunes nine moves through more rugged terrain; and the Himalayas nine offers a different visual and strategic experience. The on-site hotel means that staying and playing at Prince's is a straightforward and enjoyable proposition, and the championship history adds a layer of significance to every round. For golfers who want the best of the Sandwich Bay links without the logistical complexity of its neighbours, Prince's is the answer.

What an absolutely spectacular club! From the very first emails arranging our visit to the moment we arrived, everything was flawless. The facilities are top-notch: a spacious parking area, large and comfortable locker rooms, and a dining room with breathtaking views over the course and the sea. Upon arrival, the staff welcomed us warmly and made sure we knew exactly where to go. The practice facilities are excellent and complete, offering everything you could need to warm up or work on your game — a great driving range, short-game area, and putting greens in perfect condition. The pro shop is fantastic — very well stocked with everything a golfer could need. The service throughout the club was outstanding, attentive yet relaxed. We played the Himalayas and Shore courses, both of which were immaculate — perfectly maintained from tee to green. These two loops showcase the essence of links golf: natural undulations, strategic bunkering, and constantly changing winds that make every shot a new challenge. The setting by the coast is simply stunning. After the round, since it was Sunday, we stayed for the carvery lunch — delicious food and fantastic service once again. The atmosphere in the dining area is casual and relaxed, welcoming golfers still in their gear as well as non-golfing guests who come just for lunch. It’s a friendly, lively environment where everyone feels comfortable. In the afternoon, I had a lesson with Jordan Loft, who was phenomenal — clear, practical, and incredibly helpful. He quickly understood my swing and gave me simple, effective advice that made a real difference. A true 10/10 experience. We also had the pleasure of meeting Ali McGuirk, the club’s Business Development, Marketing & PR Manager, who had been my contact prior to our visit. She came to greet us personally during lunch — absolutely delightful and professional. Without a doubt, we’ll be back and will keep recommending Prince’s Golf Club as the true gem that it is. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at the club for such an unforgettable experience!

Wow what an excellent links course. Greens were totally pure and so true with a good pace, did not see any thread bear patches on them anywhere. If you love links golf then you’ll totally get these 3 loops of 9, played the Himalayas and shore courses as my 18, the other 9 is called the dunes. £170 a round is steep but you can see why, its top notch.

Great courses in excellent condition - loved the plugged ball in the wall of the bunker. Well stocked shop, tasty lunch and good beer. All with excellent customer service. Thanks again Prince’s, see you next year for another lodge break (view of RSG from my window) :)
