About Parkstone

Parkstone is one of southern England's finest heathland courses, a Willie Park Jr design set among the pines and heather above Poole Harbour.

Founded in 1910 and later refined by James Braid, Parkstone Golf Club sits on elevated heathland in Poole, Dorset, with sweeping views across Poole Harbour to the Purbeck Hills. The course combines classic heathland character with thoughtful architecture, rewarding accurate driving and precise approach play across beautifully varied terrain. Max Faulkner, the 1951 Open Champion, served as club professional here for many years, adding a distinguished chapter to an already rich club history.

Parkstone Golf Club occupies a particularly enviable position on the heathland above Poole, where pines and heather frame holes that open out to views across one of England's largest natural harbours. Willie Park Jr, the prolific designer responsible for courses across Britain and North America, laid out the original routing in 1910, and James Braid's later revisions added further strategic interest without disturbing the natural character of the land. The result is a course of considerable variety, where the terrain rises and falls in ways that demand both imagination and control from the tee.

The club's connection to Max Faulkner, winner of the 1951 Open Championship at Royal Portrush, gives Parkstone a place in the broader story of British professional golf. Faulkner's long tenure as club professional brought distinction to the club and fostered strong ties between Parkstone and competitive golf at the highest level. That heritage is evident in the serious, well-maintained atmosphere of the club today, which remains one of the most respected private members' clubs in the south of England.

For golfers travelling to the Dorset coast, Parkstone represents a compelling reason to venture inland from the seaside. Its heathland setting, distinguished design lineage and exceptional views make it a course that sits comfortably among the best in the region. Those fortunate enough to secure a round here will find a test that rewards patience and precision in equal measure, played out across ground that has changed little in character since Park first walked it at the turn of the twentieth century.

I played the course yesterday and it exceeded all expectations. The fairways were in perfect condition and the greens rolled true and consistent. Every hole offered views that could stop you in your tracks, it felt like each one was carefully framed to highlight the natural beauty of the setting. The staff were excellent throughout, and the Course Marshall deserves special mention. He kept the pace of play smooth, gave us useful advice, and even helped us track down balls on blind shots. His friendly approach made the round even more enjoyable. This course combines outstanding maintenance, breathtaking scenery, and a welcoming atmosphere. It is one of the best golfing experiences I have had, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a memorable round.

Fantastic course, condition has been the best out there with green and soft fairways even during the dry summer. Winter condition is incredible. Very friendly and guests always come away raving.

Unbelievable place to golf. By far the best course in the area. Definitely one to be ticked off if you've not played it.
