About Little Aston
Little Aston near Sutton Coldfield is the benchmark parkland course of the English Midlands, a Harry Vardon design of genuine tournament quality set among mature oaks and beeches that have shaped the landscape for over a century.
Founded in 1908 and designed by six-time Open champion Harry Vardon, Little Aston occupies a wooded estate on the northern edge of Birmingham near Sutton Coldfield that is as well suited to great golf as any parkland site in England. The mature trees that line and divide the fairways have grown to a scale that gives the course a grandeur and sense of permanence few parkland layouts can match, while the firm, well-drained soil ensures that conditions remain good throughout the year. The club is a private members' institution of the highest standing, with a tournament history that confirms the quality of Vardon's original design.

Little Aston
Little Aston has the quality of a course that has been meticulously tended for well over a century by people who understand exactly what they have. The mature parkland setting is immediately impressive, with trees of considerable girth and height forming natural corridors and boundaries that demand accuracy from the first hole. Vardon's routing makes excellent use of the ground, with changes in direction and elevation that create genuine variety across eighteen holes without ever departing from the coherent character of the design.
The conditioning at Little Aston is a direct reflection of the club's private status and the high standards it demands of itself. The greens are consistently well-prepared, the fairways firm and true, and the approach to course maintenance shows the kind of long-term thinking that comes from a membership that regards the course as a permanent asset rather than a commercial product. This standard of preparation is what has made the course a credible host for events like the Brabazon Trophy and the British Masters, and it is what visiting golfers experience when fortunate enough to arrange access. Within the landscape of England's finest inland courses, Little Aston occupies a position comparable to the great Surrey and Hampshire heathland clubs, albeit in a very different setting.
For golfers with connections in the Midlands, securing a round at Little Aston should be a priority. The combination of Vardon's architectural intelligence, the maturity of the landscape and the uncompromising standards of preparation produces one of the finest parkland rounds in England, on a course that rarely receives the wider recognition it genuinely merits. What Golfers Say About Little Aston

Martin Kirkbride4 years agoLittle Aston is a fantastic golf club. The whole experience is top class. From the friendly welcome from the Professional. The bar and catering staff and the very welcoming members. The course is superb and in spectacular condition. Manicured fairways, fast firm greens and strategically placed bunkers make it a very enjoyable, but testing round of golf. 10/10
Thomas Parkinson6 months agoAn incredible course that tests you in many ways. The experience as a visitor from start to finish is amazing. Staff are welcoming, thorough and helpful. The on site amenities are great, the veranda is a great place to unravel a round, have a beverage and chat with members. Members were all pleasant and asked how the round went. The putting green is something to see by itself!. The greens are fast, bunkers are everywhere and there is a lot of risk/reward aspects to the course which makes for a great challenge. Deserves its place as one of the best courses in the UK
Richard Beevers6 years agoAbsolutely stunning golf course and a fantastic layout. Some of the fastest greens I've ever played on and there seemed to be a bunker just about everywhere a misplaced drive would go. Ranked 34th best course in the UK and rightly so!
