About Goswick
Goswick, officially Berwick-upon-Tweed Golf Club, is a traditional Northumberland links set among natural dunes with views to Holy Island and one of England's most dramatic coastlines.
Set on the Northumberland coast near Berwick-upon-Tweed, Goswick Golf Club, formally known as Berwick-upon-Tweed (Goswick) Golf Club, was founded in 1890 on natural linksland that looks out towards Holy Island and the sweeping dune coastline of Northumberland. One of the most northerly top-ranked courses in England, Goswick sits just south of the Scottish border in a landscape of considerable wild beauty, where the golf is played across genuine dune terrain shaped by the North Sea. The club is traditional in character and offers a links experience that remains largely unspoilt.

Goswick
Goswick's position near the Scottish border gives it a dual character that reflects its geography. The landscape here belongs to the far north of England, where the Northumberland coast runs in a great arc of dune and beach from Bamburgh south towards Alnmouth, and where Holy Island sits offshore as one of the most evocative landmarks in the country. The golf at Goswick is entirely in keeping with this setting: traditional links golf played across natural dune terrain, with the wind from the North Sea acting as the ultimate arbiter of a good score. The views to Lindisfarne from the fairways are among the most memorable of any course in England.
Founded in 1890, Goswick has maintained the character of a club that is comfortable in its own identity. There is none of the self-promotion that marks some modern golf destinations, and the course itself retains the natural quality of linksland that has been well managed rather than heavily altered. The dune ridges, the firm turf and the wind-scoured rough all speak of a links that understands its own strengths. For golfers who have spent time on the great links of Scotland, Goswick will feel like a natural continuation of that tradition, set just across the border on the English side.
The wider Northumberland context makes a visit to Goswick part of something larger. Bamburgh Castle, the Farne Islands, Alnwick and the coastal path all lie within reach, and the area rewards those who take the time to explore beyond the course. For golfers planning a trip to the far north of England, Goswick is one of the essential stops: a genuine links in a remarkable landscape that deserves far greater recognition than its geographic remoteness has historically allowed it.

What Golfers Say About Goswick
A selection of recent visitor reviews from Google.
David Hewitta year agoVisited a couple of weeks ago, course is in fantastic condition. We struck lucky with the weather which helped, staff in pro shop and club house friendly and very helpful. Spoke to a few members who were great and let us play though with no issues as soon as we caught them up. Pro shop is really well stocked considering the size, we are in the clubhouse and food was nice. More work being done to improve the course and will be fantastic once completed and can’t wait to return in the summer
Graham Hesketha year agoA superb golf course and a first class experience. What a challenge, especially with today’s wind, but thoroughly enjoyable. Terrific welcome and the course is in the best condition. Highly recommended.
