About Dumbarnie Links
Dumbarnie Links opened in 2020 to immediate recognition as one of Scotland's finest new courses, a pure links on the Fife coast with panoramic views across the Firth of Forth.
Designed by Clive Clark and opened in 2020, Dumbarnie Links occupies a stretch of Fife coastline overlooking the Firth of Forth, situated near Leven and within easy reach of St Andrews. The course was created without a membership requirement, making it fully open to visiting golfers from the outset, and it earned praise from players and critics almost immediately after opening. Views from the course take in Edinburgh, the Forth bridges and the hills of East Lothian beyond, while the golf itself is as demanding and authentic a links experience as Scotland has to offer.

Dumbarnie Links
The routing at Dumbarnie makes excellent use of a site that has genuine natural variety, with holes running along the shoreline, others climbing to elevated positions with Forth views, and some tucking into natural hollows where the wind drops and the challenge shifts to pure shot-making. Clark has created a course that feels as though it has been there for decades, with no sense of the contrived or the over-engineered that can affect modern layouts. The turf establishment has been swift and the course already plays with the firmness and pace expected of quality links.
Dumbarnie's arrival adds further weight to the argument that the Fife coast is home to the greatest concentration of links golf anywhere in the world. With St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Crail all within reach, a trip to this part of Scotland offers an itinerary that is hard to match. Dumbarnie sits comfortably in that company and, for some visitors who value pure accessibility alongside quality, it may be the most convenient of the group to include in a week's golf.

Fred Findlay10 months agoPlayed Dunbarnie Golf Links for the first time, hopefully not my last. The full course was in great condition, considering it only opened 5 days before we played as it was closed for the winter. The reception on arrival was great, the restaurant for breakfast was outstanding as was the food and service, the new halfway house was also first class, just missed a pint of draught Guinness, but did have one after we won the match and the money. The course, the setting, and the service from everyone, even the starter, because he provided a wee dram of Whisky before you tee off, was absolutely outstanding. Thank you, and I hope to see you all again soon.
Doug Ward6 months agoWe recently played Dumbarnie in July of 2025 and were very impressed. It is a challenging and scenic layout, with wonderful practice facilities. It combines traditional firm conditions of links golf with some other design elements as well. Makes you think about each shot. The restaurant offered delicious and well-priced food as well. Worth your time.
Bigblue Scota year agoA great modern links golf course with a lovely welcome to the clubhouse. A fair bit of elevation rise and fall over the 18 holes which is not so typical of Scottish links but the layout is never boring and provides great views over to Auld Reekie and North Berwick. One disappointing aspect of our visit is that one of our fourball incurred an injury just before we were due to play (broken metatarsal) and which prevented him walking or playing golf but we were informed that no refunds or credits were available for his golf fee. This is really not good customer service in this day and age and for that reason I’ve scored the links as a 3 star experience.
