About Cabot Highlands

Cabot Highlands is the most talked-about new golf course to open in Scotland in years, a Rod Whitman design that harnesses the drama of the Highland landscape to produce something genuinely extraordinary.

Part of the global Cabot Collection that includes the celebrated Cabot Cape Breton in Canada, Cabot Highlands opened near Inverness to immediate acclaim as one of the most compelling new layouts in UK golf. Designed by Rod Whitman, whose work at Cabot Links helped establish the collection's reputation for letting natural terrain dictate the routing, the course moves through Highland moorland with loch views and a sense of scale that is unlike anything else in Scottish golf. The resort development that surrounds it makes Cabot Highlands both a destination course and a place to stay, positioned at the northern end of a country already rich in exceptional golf.

Whitman's design philosophy suits the Highland setting well. Rather than importing shapes or styles from elsewhere, the routing follows the natural lie of the land, with fairways that pitch and roll across moorland terrain and greens that sit within the landscape as though they have always been there. The loch views that appear at various points on the round provide moments of genuine drama, and the sheer remoteness of the setting adds to the feeling that this is something apart from the mainstream of British golf.

The Cabot brand has shown a consistent ability to identify sites where nature has already done much of the architectural work, and Cabot Highlands is perhaps the most dramatic example of this approach to date. For golfers who want to explore the furthest reaches of Scotland, the combination of Cabot Highlands with the established courses at Nairn, Royal Dornoch and Castle Stuart makes the Inverness area one of the country's most rewarding golf destinations.

I was there playing golf not staying. The first day we had a preview play of Old Petty and the second we played Castle Stuart. Both were fabulous. Old Petty is new and growing in, plenty of fun holes, loads of challenges. Some super nice touches around the course. It’s a cool layout. Castle Stuart is my highest ranking course by miles, the clever way in which it hugs the coastline and climbs around the links land, brilliant just breathtaking. The refinement of all turf is first class! The team work very well together and provide everything you could ever want. They all seem really happy to be there and to chat with you. They love hearing about your experience, there’s a real feeling of passion that you often don’t get at world class golfing venues. I will be back! ⛳️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏌️👍🤩
